Living Room Furniture on Finance

There are plenty of finance options available for the purchase of living room furniture via many different stores, in fact furniture stores which do not offer finance are something of a rarity nowadays!

The acceptance criteria for finance or credit does vary, but as a minimum you will need to be 18 years or over at the date of application and be a permanent UK resident.

High street furniture stores in general tend to offer credit which is provided by mainstream banks and finance houses, so the acceptance rate is lower and you will most likely need a decent credit score to be accepted.

But there are of course stores which are do seem to be more lenient in terms of credit scoring. Catalogues are another good option if your credit score is low, they tend to offer flexible credit including buy now pay later with nothing to pay for many months after purchase, plus 0% interest rates are often available (though the prices are higher than traditional high street stores in the first place as the credit is built-in to the price).

There is of course no guarantee of getting approved, regardless of if you have bad credit, no credit history or even a fantastic credit score.

Credit provided is subject to the customer successfully passing the credit and affordability checks.

  • Spread the Cost of Living Room Furniture
  • Get the furniture right away
  • Some stores let you pay nothing for 6 months
  • Interest Rates & Deposits
  • Must Buy New rather than Second Hand
  • Could negatively affect credit rating if payments are missed

Things to Consider

To find the best deals on furniture, always shop around and compare prices from numerous retailers. Many furniture stores also have sales where they sell off discontinued lines to make way for new stock, so signing up for newsletters and keep your eyes peeled for special promotions and voucher codes throughout the year.

If you are buying furniture in store and you have the cash - don't be afraid to ask for a discount, particularly if you are spending a lot of money!

There are many things to consider when buying living room furniture, so don't just rush to buy when you fall in love with an item!

The style and look of the furniture is obviously subjective, but after you have decided on the style and materials, the most important thing to check is the dimensions, you need to carefully think about how to use your living room space and how much room you have. Also consider the access to the living room - it's no good buying that awesome 3 piece suite if you can't get it through the living room door!

When looking for the cheapest deals on furniture, it becomes very obvious very quickly that the quality is going to be lower. Usually this means the furniture isn't made out of the best materials or doesn't have the best finish or appearance. There are a few solutions however, one being to buy second hand furniture.

Online stores like Ebay and Preloved have hundreds of high quality items that have been used but are still in a good condition. With a bit of work you could even make the old furniture look brand new.

The size of every furniture item isn't that important unless you have a fairly small space to put it in. It is of course still something you need to consider when it comes to sofas, but for items like coffee tables and tv stands, the sizes are fairly standard.

Glass, metal, wood. These are the main materials for most living room furniture excluding sofas. Which of these you pick will usually depend on your own personal preference as well as what looks best along side your current furniture.

Shape & Style

The shape and style is similar to material in that it's more about what you prefer and what fits best with your current style. If you're starting fresh then you should take your time and make sure you've seen a few different styles in person to see which one you like best.

Price is usually the most important factor when buying any furniture. With this in mind it's not always best to simply go for the cheapest furniture as they may simply not last very long, creating a false economy. Similarly, buying the most expensive doesn't often give you the best value for money so it's best to weigh up the options and choose one that you like and should last a decent amount of time when you consider what you'll be using it for.
